Who can apply
- Age: no age limit. NTA sets none for JEE Main 2027, though the institute you join may have its own age rule.
- Class 12 year: you must have passed Class 12 (or an equivalent exam) in 2025 or 2026, or be taking it in 2027. If you passed in 2024 or before, you cannot apply.
- Passing year: the year your Class 12 result first said pass. An improvement exam does not change it.
- Attempts: the bulletin sets no separate limit on attempts; the Class 12 year rule decides who can apply. In 2027 you can sit Session 1, Session 2 or both, and NTA counts your better NTA score. You can appear only once in each session.
- Equivalent exams: these include Class 12 from a recognised central or state board, NIOS with at least five subjects, a diploma of at least three years recognised by AICTE or a state board of technical education, and the others the bulletin lists.
- State code of eligibility: the state where you passed (or are taking) Class 12, not the state where you live.

Also keep ready
- A DigiLocker, JanParichay or e-Pramaan login (MeriPehchaan). NTA advises a re-KYC on DigiLocker first, so your latest details come through.
- Your name and date of birth exactly as on your Class 10 certificate or marksheet.
- A mobile number and email that are your own or a parent's. One number and one email can be used for one form only.
- Your Class 12 roll or registration number, if you are taking Class 12 in 2027.

How to apply, step by step
- RegisterOn jeemain.nta.nic.in, open the Session 1 application form and sign in through MeriPehchaan (DigiLocker, JanParichay or e-Pramaan). Fill the registration details and create a password of 8 to 13 characters, with at least one capital letter, one small letter, one number and one special character. Note your application number: you use the same one for Session 2.
- Fill the formLog in with the application number and password. Add your personal details, the paper, the question paper language, your education details and four exam cities in order of choice. The choice is limited to the state of your permanent or present address; NTA may offer other states when those have fewer than four exam cities.
- UploadTake the live photo, then upload your scanned photo, signature, Class 10 certificate and any other document from the table above.
- PayPay the fee by net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI by 22 November 2026, up to 11:50 pm. Keep the payment proof.
- Download the confirmation pageIt appears only after the payment goes through, and only then is your form complete. Save it and print a copy.
You can do these steps in one sitting or on different days.
Paid but no confirmation page? Check the payment with your bank or the payment gateway (their helplines are in Appendix I of the bulletin). If it failed, pay again before the last date. If it went through, call the NTA helpline so NTA can regenerate the page. Duplicate payments are refunded after NTA checks them.

Made a mistake? How to correct it
NTA does not edit your form for you, and takes no corrections by post, fax, WhatsApp, email or by hand. There are two ways to fix a mistake:
- Correction window, 27 to 29 November 2026 (up to 11:50 pm). A one-time chance to edit the fields NTA opens. NTA publishes the list of fields when the window goes live. Use it if you only need to change some details.
- A fresh form, until 22 November 2026 (or 23 to 26 November 2026 with the late fee). NTA's public notice of 30 October 2026 allows it even if you have already paid. You get a new application number and must upload everything again. Only the last form with a paid fee and a confirmation page counts, and the earlier fee is not refunded or adjusted.
After the correction window closes, NTA accepts no more changes.
Common mistakes
- A name or date of birth that does not match your Class 10 certificate.
- Someone else's phone number or email, such as a cyber cafe's or a coaching centre's. NTA sends everything there.
- A photo with a mask, with the ears hidden or on a coloured background.
- The wrong state code of eligibility. It is where you passed Class 12, not where you live.
- Leaving after paying, without the confirmation page.
- Category or PwD/PwBD details filled in a hurry. JEE Advanced uses the same details.
- A question paper language picked without care. It cannot change after the correction window.
- Appearing with two application numbers in the same session. NTA treats that as unfair means; only holding two numbers is not.

- 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28 January 2027: the exam. Gates close 30 minutes before it starts. Carry the admit card with its self declaration filled in, two passport photos (the same as the one you uploaded) and an original photo ID such as Aadhaar, a school ID, PAN or a passport.
Session 2: the form is open from 5 January to 3 February 2027, dates NTA calls tentative and will confirm in a separate notice. If you applied for Session 1, you use the same application number. All Session 2 dates are on the JEE Main 2027 exam dates page.
