Answer and solution
Answer (c) C & E Only
Solution
Chemistry ma’am · 3 steps
Remember the four letters A, D, E, K: those are the fat-soluble ones, and B and C dissolve in water.
- Two groups. Vitamins are grouped by what they dissolve in. Vitamins A, D, E and K are fat soluble: they dissolve in fats and oils and are stored in the liver and fatty (adipose) tissue.
- Water soluble. All the B-group vitamins and vitamin C are water soluble. The body cannot store them for long, as the excess leaves in urine, so they must be taken in the diet regularly. Vitamin B₁₂ is a partial exception, since the liver stores it, but it is still classed as water soluble.
Statement Vitamin Soluble in A B₁ water B C water C E fat D B₁₂ water E K fat - So. Only statements C (vitamin E) and E (vitamin K) name fat-soluble vitamins, which is option (c).
The idea to keep. Fat soluble means A, D, E, K and nothing else. Every B vitamin and vitamin C is water soluble, so they need regular supply in the diet.
