Sort each vitamin by what it dissolves in: fat-soluble ones get stored, water-soluble ones get flushed out.
- Fat-soluble vitamins. Vitamins A, D, E and K dissolve in fats and oils. They are stored in the liver and in adipose (fat) tissue, so the body keeps them for a long time.
- Water-soluble vitamins. The B group and vitamin C dissolve in water. Any excess leaves in the urine, so they cannot be stored for long and must be taken in regularly through the diet. Vitamin B₁₂ is the one exception, but it is not in any option.
Vitamin Soluble in Stored for long? Thiamine (vitamin B₁) water no Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) water no Vitamin A fat yes Vitamin D fat yes - So. Only (d) pairs two fat-soluble vitamins, Vitamin A and Vitamin D, and both are stored in the body for a longer duration.
The idea to keep. Remember A, D, E, K as the fat-soluble set: they are stored in the liver and fat tissue. B group and C are water-soluble and must be taken in regularly.
