These are the chapters with the most questions in JEE Main 2026, ten per subject, counted from PrepWiser's question bank, which has almost every question from the 2026 papers. In each subject, the top ten carried about half of the 2026 questions, and the other chapters the other half.

How to read the tables
- Rank is by the chapter's questions in the 2026 papers. Chapters with the same count share a rank, so a subject can list more than ten.
- 2026 questions is about how many questions the chapter had across the nineteen 2026 shifts in our question bank.
- Per shift is that count divided by the shifts in the period. 2024–25 counts the 2024 and 2025 papers together: the syllabus has been almost the same since its 2024 revision, so they are the closest comparison.
- The 2024 papers had more questions than the 2025 and 2026 papers, because each subject offered a choice of numerical questions, so per-shift figures for 2024–25 run a little higher overall.

Which chapters were asked most in JEE Main 2026?
In PrepWiser's question bank, which has almost every question from the 2026 papers, these chapters had about 1.3 or more questions per shift in 2026:
- Physics, about 24–33 questions each: Ray Optics; Rotational Motion; Units, Dimensions & Errors; Current Electricity; and Wave Optics.
- Chemistry, about 24–36 questions each: Coordination Compounds, Aldehydes & Ketones, Chemical Kinetics, Atomic Structure and General Organic Chemistry (GOC).
- Mathematics, about 24–32 questions each: Sequences & Series, Three Dimensional Geometry, Definite Integration and Vectors.
Will the same chapters be asked most in JEE Main 2027?
These counts can't tell you that. They are from past papers, and NTA can set questions from any chapter on the syllabus in any shift. Counts also move from year to year. NTA has not published the JEE Main 2027 syllabus yet (as of October 2026). The 2025 and 2026 syllabi were the same as 2024's, apart from Physics no longer listing vector topics under kinematics (vectors are still in Maths). NTA's tentative calendar puts the first session in late January 2027, with details to come in the information bulletin. This page will be updated when the 2027 syllabus is out.
How were these counted?
We counted every question from the 2024–2026 JEE Main papers in PrepWiser's question bank, chapter by chapter, and divided by the number of shifts in each period. The 2026 figures come from the nineteen 2026 shifts, ten in January and nine in April, and the 2024–25 figures from the 2024 and 2025 papers. The bank holds about 75 questions per shift for 2026, almost every question from those papers. The papers themselves had 90 questions in 2021–24, when each subject offered 10 numerical questions and students answered 5, and 75 in 2020 and 2025–26. A few questions may be missing or tagged to a different chapter, so treat the figures as approximate.
